Prussia Bier is a premium lager, crafted using traditional methods and originally brewed in historic Konigsberg, in the former kingdom of Prussia (it’s now technically Russian and called Kaliningrad). Now brewed in their own purpose built brewery in Newark, Prussia Bier is made up of the best ingredients from all across Europe – so is a truly continental beer.
Prussia’s empire is growing on a daily basis with draught and bottles cropping up nationwide and Arch’s part in this has been instrumental.
We were approached with an idea for a lager with two key traits: this was a premium drink and it was to be called Prussia.
We started by looking at the brand identity. We chose an iconic Prussian Eagle to be a core element of the design – the eagle was the central figure of the kingdom’s coat of arms, instantly exuding a sense of heritage and grandeur. Our new illustration, coupled with bold, distinctive typography was featured in luxurious black and gold tones across a wide range of collateral including pump clips, glass and bar ware.
The Prussian history is expressed throughout everything we’ve created, reflecting the company’s brand’s values and new strapline we devised – “with excellency in mind.”
To help build the brand, we created a ‘Prussia Times’ newspaper with content we generated in-house, featuring fun and engaging articles about the former Prussia region, the product, the brewery and the fantastic team behind the brand.
The website we created tells the story of Prussia, the history and legacy and includes a Bier locator (which is increasingly populated with eagles landing all over the UK). Take a look here prussiabier.co.uk
We developed a social strategy which included the initial launch as well as a seasonal campaign based around key sporting events which all linked back to the brand values. We also developed some sophisticated cinemagraphs of the product in action, designed to reach and connect with the target market, build brand awareness and increase conversions.
Once the draught bier had been established with a successful launch it was time to start thinking about the bottles.
Our bottle design combines a local, traditional brewery aesthetic with the imagery of a quality brand. We looked at mixing old and new – a classic bottle form coupled with a clean label and incorporating a metallic gold neck label featuring the Eagle motif.
The typography needed to be legible and prominent, giving instant standout when shelved in fridges behind bar counters. We’re pleased to learn the bottles are flying out of the fridges.
