Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service don’t just deal with fires. The vast majority of their work involves rescue work, organisational tasks and community outreach.
The Service approached Arch Creative to develop a video that would embody these elements of the LFRS, built around the hashtag #NotJustFires.
Over the course of a year, Arch staff shadowed a selection of the workforce that make Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland safer. This included control room teams, community safety workers, technical rescue teams and, of course, both full-time and on-call firefighters. We even visited the next generation, the Cadets, being put through their paces.
Each time we checked in with the Service, we organised a shoot, brought our equipment and got footage representing a particular part of the LFRS. Once we’d checked in with every section, we edited the film together and enlisted the help of a professional voiceover artist to add a bit of flair.
Due to the nature of the shoot, it required an immense amount of organisation and logistical skill. In the end, it was planned to perfection. Getting it right was crucial in order to meet the aims of informing the public about their range of support services, as well as inspiring engagement both within the fire service, and with schools and colleges.
The two-minute video was a huge hit, racking up thousands of online views for LFRS. It’s an example of work with a solid aim in mind – inform and educate the public about LFRS – and genuine results – the views on Youtube signifying an engaged public audience.
We’re incredibly proud of the work we’ve done with LFRS. If we can help their amazing workforce perform their duties, even in a little way, then that’s a job well done for us.
