Background

We worked with Weatherbys Private Bank to refresh their brand identity, aiming to attract a broader audience while maintaining the gravitas and heritage associated with their long-standing history. 

The Brief

Weatherbys, an iconic family-run business established in 1770, has a rich heritage deeply rooted in horse racing. Over the past 250 years, the company has expanded into a group of enterprises, including Weatherbys Racing Bank and Weatherbys Private Bank, which was honored as Private Bank of the Year in 2021. Seeking to modernise their brand to appeal to a wider audience without compromising their reputation, Weatherbys Private Bank looked to Arch Creative to lead a full brand refresh.

A Contemporary feel for a Heritage brand

Our initial focus was on redefining the visual identity of Weatherbys Private Bank. Recognising the need for a balance between tradition and modernity, we developed a vibrant secondary colour palette to complement the existing brand colours. This expanded palette provided greater flexibility, enabling the creation of engaging and diverse designs across various platforms.

Along with the new colour scheme, we selected brand fonts that exude a timeless sophistication. The chosen typography reflects the bank’s commitment to excellence and appeals to both longstanding clients and prospective customers.

To infuse a sense of dynamism into the brand’s visuals, we introduced a distinctive slanted graphic device. This element conveys motion and progress, symbolising Weatherbys’ forward-looking approach while honouring their storied past.

WeatHERbys Campaign

Building on Weatherbys Private Bank’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, the WeatHERbys campaign put a spotlight on the talented women within the organisation, celebrating their leadership and professional growth. By emphasising ‘HER’ within the brand name itself, we created a simple yet powerful visual device that reinforced the central role women play in the company. This subtle but effective branding element resonated across internal and external communications, making the campaign both memorable and impactful.

The campaign featured stories of women in leadership roles, as well as those who had been nurtured and supported throughout their careers at Weatherbys Private Bank. Through a mix of digital and print content, we showcased personal experiences, achievements, and the company’s ongoing efforts to foster an inclusive workplace. The response from staff was positive, with high engagement levels reflecting a strong sense of pride and alignment with Weatherbys values. The campaign not only reinforced the organisation’s commitment to gender equality but also strengthened its employer brand as an inclusive institution.

Weatherbys Awards

To celebrate and recognise achievements across the business, we created a suite of materials to support the prestigious Weatherbys Awards, an internal ceremony honouring excellence within the company. By investing in a high-quality event experience, Weatherbys Private Bank reinforced its commitment to employee recognition and engagement, fostering a culture of ambition and achievement.

We developed a prestigious design look-and-feel for the awards. A key element of this was an animated video that guided the structure of the ceremony, introducing nominees and announcing winners. We storyboarded the video and led a recording session with a professional voiceover artist to ensure a polished and engaging final product. Alongside this, we produced a heritage video that was played during the event, highlighting key milestones in Weatherbys’ long and esteemed history, reinforcing the company’s legacy while celebrating its continued success.

DeadHappy

What we did

We partnered with DeadHappy to revolutionise their brand identity by creating ‘Skull Man,’ a distinctive mascot designed to engage a younger demographic and challenge traditional perceptions of life insurance. Our work encompassed character design, photoshoots, video production, and the development of an augmented reality (AR) experience to bring Skull Man to life across various platforms.

The Brief

DeadHappy, a forward-thinking life insurance company, sought to make life insurance relevant and appealing to customers in their twenties and thirties. 

Recognising the need to break down societal taboos surrounding death, they aimed to infuse their brand with humour and boldness. DeadHappy approached us to develop a unique brand mascot that would personify their unconventional approach and resonate with a younger audience.
