For the last four years (yes, four years!) we’ve been working with the production company Studio Soho on an extensive range of promotional material for their new movie Mum’s List – but it’s only now that we can tell you all about it, so here goes.
The film boasts the fine acting talents of Rafe Spall, Emilia Fox and Elaine Cassidy. It’s the true story of St. John Greene (affectionately known as Singe) and his wife Kate, who tragically died after a battle with breast cancer. After Kate’s diagnosis she penned a series of life lessons, hopes and wishes that Singe compiled into the eponymous list as a reminder to their two young boys that their mum is always with them. Take a look at the official trailer here. A word of warning – it’s a tear jerker.
Originally an international bestselling book, the text has been adapted by the team at Studio Soho, led by producer Nick Hamson and the writer/director Niall Johnson, into a film garnering critical praise across the board.
Working closely with Nick and Niall, our involvement originally came in creating the film investment branding, poster and brochures back in 2012. We also created Studio Soho’s brand identity, which is featured across all the marketing collateral we’ve produced including the red carpet step-and-repeat boards and a corporate brochure.
More recently we created the theatrical poster artwork by developing the existing book cover recently re-released by Penguin. The posters have been displayed across the London Underground as well as being featured heavily on social media and TV including This Morning, ITV News, Good Morning Britain and the BBC’s Breakfast News show, plus a wide range of national press. Take a look at some of the great reviews and articles on the Studio Soho press site.
The accompanying soundtrack by Universal Music features old favourites by Simple Minds, ABC and The Undertones plus new tracks especially recorded for the film by James Morrison, Frances, and Una Healey from The Saturdays, all of whom were in attendance at the film’s world premiere and performed their renditions.
Onto the red carpet event – held at The Curzon cinema, Mayfair, last Wednesday. We developed the invitations, tickets, digital posters, press pack and a wide range of collateral for the event.
Realistically, we know you’re only here to find out which famous people we rubbed shoulders with. So here goes: along with the above, in attendance were 50 Shades of Grey heart throb Jamie Dornan, Likely Lad James Bolam, the ever glamorous Vanessa Feltz, TOWIE’s Elliot Wright, Love Island star Zara Holland, and the stars of the film themselves Rafe and Emilia (yes, we’re on first name terms now). Oh yeah, and Neil’s dad from The Inbetweeners, who beats the A-Listers hands down in our opinion.
Go and watch Mum’s List. When you do, take some tissues. Also be ready for the Studio Soho ident at the very start – we also created this. The ident uses drone footage of iconic London landmarks including Piccadilly Circus, the gateway to Soho. Take a look here.
Mum’s List is available to watch in cinemas nationwide now. Get your tickets now from the website mumslist.film
