The Queen took off her blue glove and pressed the button on her first ever Tweet on Friday – and she did it at The Science Museum – who recently held The Meetings Show event which we designed a brochure for through our client Lime Venues.

Science Museum director, Ian Blatchford, said, “You made the first live Christmas broadcast in 1957 and an event relished by historians took place on 26 March 1976, when you became the first monarch to send an email during a visit to the Royal Signals and Radar establishment. May I now invite you to join me so that you may send your first tweet.”

Her Majesty’s tweet was composed of 135 characters, as follows:

“It is a pleasure to open the Information Age exhibition today at the @ScienceMuseum and I hope people will enjoy visiting. Elizabeth R.”

This historic moment was captured around the world and immediately retweeted 36,000 times as well as being targeted by some Twitter trolls.
