Arch Creative’s Joe and Darren headed down to New Walk yesterday to hold a design workshop for a group of young people from Leicester charity Soft Touch Arts.

In preparation for the special visit from the Chair of the Arts Council, Sir Peter Bazalgette on the 28th October, Joe and Darren with Chris Wigmore from Soft Touch Arts, encouraged the students to create some inspiring designs for the exterior frontage of the new Soft Touch Arts building opposite the New Walk Museum.

Using traditional sketching and colouring through to some sophisticated Photoshop work, the youngsters created some fantastic ideas which will be developed into cut-out vinyls and positioned across the three large windows. The designs should brighten up the building prior to the renovation work next year, and also communicate to passers-by and the local community what Soft Touch Arts are all about.

We’ll keep you posted with how the final designs will look, but meantime if you are interested in getting involved with Soft Touch Arts they are holding a special business and press reception at 50 New Walk on 31/10/13 which is a chance for people to find out more about the charity’s work.
