Sir Terry Wogan has now backed Leicester’s bid to become the UK City of Culture. Terry, who famously referred to Leicester in the 1980’s as “the lost city – otherwise unknown to mankind” has had a u-turn; “Leicester is a proud city of learning, certainly worthy of the title City of Culture.”

Leicester is already supported by the likes of Lord Attenborough and best selling author Sue Townsend, creator of Adrian Mole and has put a strong bid forward. Arch Creative presented a proposal of ideas to the board for a year long programme of events should we be the winning city, and we also focused on dispelling myths about Leicester and changing perceptions.

Leicester is shortlisted against rivals Swansea Bay, Hull and Dundee and the City of Culture winner will be chosen in November. Fingers crossed we can make it!
